Perception

“Perception is a learned phenomenon. The world you live in, including the experience of your body, is completely dictated by how you learned to perceive it. If you change you perception, you change the experience of your body and your world.”

A time beyond tradition

We are now living in a time beyond tradition, when it no longer matters so much where we came from – it is what sort of future we feel we are part of that matters

The greatest protection comes from evolution

Often one feels threatened by the expansion you would have to make, preferring the safety of a limited self-image. Many people cling to a contracted state, believing that it protects them. In fact the greatest protection you could ask for comes from evolution, which solves problems by expansion and forward movement. But you must own this knowledge completely; if any part of you wants to hang back in a constricted state, that’s usually enough to block the road ahead.

Fulfilling, satisfying and blissful

Accomplishing the work that you were born to do is fulfilling, satisfying and blissful. It completes you moment by moment. Your days are filled with meaningful activity and your nights are restful and healing. Insights and understanding inspire, delight and nurture you. Your creativity is ignited. Your words and actions are appropriate. You know that you are worthy of your life and you are grateful for your life. You appreciate others and cherish the Earth.

The universe is lending you its support

[P117] No aspect of life is immune to transformation. Every change you make, however small, will be communicated throughout existence – quite literally the whole universe will be eavesdropping on you and lending you its support. From its point of view, the formation of a galaxy is no more momentous than the evolution of a single person.

You’ve been using your power to thwart yourself.

The glory of the spiritual journey is the same as its irony: You acquire full power only by realising that you have been using that power all along to thwart yourself. You are potentially the prisoner, the jailer, and the hero who opens the prison, all rolled into one.

Different perspectives

[P116] Lets take an example: You stop at a red light on the way home, but the car behind you doesn’t stop and rear-ends you. When you jump out to confront the other driver, he is not apologetic. Sullenly, he begins to give you his insurance information. In one operating system the following implications come into play:

  • This stranger doesn’t have my best interests in mind.
  • If he is lying, I could be left with all the damages.
  • I am the aggrieved party, and he should recognise that.
  • I may have to force him to cooperate.

As these ideas come into play, consider the possibility that the car accident didn’t cause them – they were already imprinted in your mind waiting for the moment they’d be needed. You aren’t seeing the situation as it really is but only through your programmed perception. In a different operating system the following implications are equally valid.

  • This accident was no accident; it’s a reflection of myself.
  • This stranger is a messenger.
  • When I find out why this event happened, I will uncover some aspect of myself.
  • I need to pay more attention to some kind of hidden or stuck energy. When I deal with it, i will be glad this accident happened.

Clear some space for truth

[P132] Today I am busy with mop, bucket and disinfectant, cleaning and clearing my inner hallway. It’s not panic stations. But truth has said she is coming sometime, so I need to clear a space. She’s tried before apparently, and found the door wedged shut with clutter. I don’t remember it, to be honest – perhaps I was out. She came, pushed at the door, sensed resistance, and left.

Not today. It will be different today, whenever or however she comes.

Oneness

[P136] We are standing by a flowing stream, the surface awash with busy bubbles. You call out to them, “So what are you then?” With some indignation, most of them reply, “We’re bubbles”, and hurry on in a state of haughty offence. But there are other bubbles who do not appear so indignant, and you dare ask them the same question. “So what are you then?”

Their reply is as peaceful as that of the others was turbulent. “We’re stream”, they say.

A sense of distinctiveness without a sense of difference is a most skillful attitude to acquire.

A beautiful life

[P181] To meet a beautiful life is to meet a spacious and gracious presence, open to all people, available for all things, yet holding on to none.

They will know clean truth – truth that is the fresh fruit of daring curiosity and clear seeing

They will display an emotional spontaneity, wholly present to the circumstances, yet free of desire to manipulate or control.

They will possess pure will, flowing easily from sweet places within, a deep and strong river of inner guidance.

They will be aware of their purpose, place and function.

They will live from their being, rather than from the opinion of others.

They will live from trust, rather than fear.

And their hand on heart will be their hand on their solar plexus.

The beautiful life will have no agenda but the best possible present for all.

They will have no home in themselves but the adventure of unfolding creation, an no energy within but that inspired by thankfulness and wonder.

The beautiful life will let go in order to recieve, recieve in order to cherish, and cherish in order to understand.

Such people laugh because they can see, and love because they can do no other.

They are those who have moved from confusion to identity, from action to presence, from separation to communion, and from exploitation to contemplation.

They are, in short, a seed set and nurtured in the soil of their own perfection.

To this extent, no one can teach you anything about being human. Your essence itself knows already all there is to know. It understands and already is, more than anyone can speak of. Already, in your potential, you surpass the wise sayings of any guru, enlightened one, or prophet. These people can startle, provoke or point you towards your essence, but they must then back away, and shade their eyes – for your essence outshines them.

Manifesting techniques

[P92] When your thoughts are clear and steadfast, begin to speak them as truths. Say them out loud. use the great command that calls forth creative power: I am. Make I-am statements to others. “I am” is the strongest creative statement in the universe. Whatever you think, whatever you say, after the words “I am” sets into motion those experiences, calls them forth, brings them to you.

[P93] Harnessing your thoughts, exercising control over them, is not as difficult as it might seem. It is all a matter of discipline. It is a question of intent.

The first step is learning to monitor your thoughts; to think about what you are thinking about.

When you catch yourself thinking negative thoughts – thoughts that negate your highest idea about a thing – think again! I want you to do this, literally. If you think you are in a doldrum, in a pickle, an no good can come of this, think again. If you think the world is a bad place, filled with negative events, think again. If you think your life is falling apart, and it looks as if you’ll never get it back together again, think again.

You can train yourself to do this. Look how well you’ve trained yourself not to do it.

[P166] The most rapid way to change a root thought, or sponsoring idea, is to reverse the thought-word-deed process.

Do the deed that you want to have the new thought about. Then say the words that you want to have your new thought about. Do this often enough and you’ll train the mind to think a new way.

[P168] When you want to change a root thought, act in accordance with the new idea you have. But you must act quickly, or your mind will kill the idea before you know it. I mean that literally. The idea, the new truth, will be dead in you before you’ve had a chance to know it.

Manifesting

[P20] The deepest secret is that life is not a process of discovery, but a process of creation.

You are not discovering yourself, but creating yourself anew. Seek, therefore, not to find out Who You Are, seek to determine Who You Want to Be.

[P74] Thought is the first level of creation.
Next comes the word. Every thing you say is a thought expressed. It is creative and sends forth creative energy into the universe. Words are more dynamic (thus, some might say more creative) than thought, because words are a different level of vibration from thought. They disrupt (change, alter, affect) the universe with greater impact.

[P91] That which you think of, but never thereafter never speak of, creates at one level. That which you think of and speak of, creates at another level. That which you think, speak and do becomes made manifest in your reality.

To think, speak and do something which you do not truly believe is impossible. Therefore, the process of creation must include belief, or knowing. This is absolute faith. This is beyond hoping. This is  knowing of a certainty. Therefore, the doing part of creation always includes knowing. It is a gut-level clarity, a total certainty, a complete acceptance as reality of something.

This place of knowing is a place of intense and incredible gratitude. It is a thankfulness in advance. And that, perhaps, is the biggest key to creation: to be grateful before, and for, the creation. Such taking for granted is not only condoned, but encouraged. It is the sure sign of mastery. All masters know in advanced that the deed has been done.

Pain

[P37] Pain results from a judgment you have made about a thing. Remove the judgement and the pain disappears.

[P134] Yes, the things that others think, say, or do will sometimes hurt you – until they do not anymore. What will get you from here to there most quickly is total honesty – being willing to assert, acknowledge, and declare exactly how you feel about a thing. Say your truth – kindly, but fully and completely. Live your truth, gently, but totally and consistently. Change your truth easily and quickly when your experience brings you new clarity.
