The universe is lending you its support
Posted by Kit in development, inspiration on October 12, 2009
[P117] No aspect of life is immune to transformation. Every change you make, however small, will be communicated throughout existence – quite literally the whole universe will be eavesdropping on you and lending you its support. From its point of view, the formation of a galaxy is no more momentous than the evolution of a single person.

Freeing a chunk of frozen consciousness
Posted by Kit in development on October 6, 2009
The ego has a repertoire of rationalisations for not being emotionally free:
- I’m not the kind of person who feels like that
- I should be over it
- No one wants to hear about these feelings
- I don’t have a right to feel hurt; it isn’t fair to everyone else
- I’ll only open old wound
- ‘The past is the past
If you find yourself saying such things as a deflection from facing painful feelings, you may succeed in keeping them repressed. But every hidden, blocked feeling is like a chunk of frozen consciousness. Until it thaws, you are saying “I am this hurt” even as you refuse to look at it; it has you in its grip. This is another obstacle between you and the silent witness that must be dissolved. Time and attention have to be paid, sitting with your feelings and letting them say what they have to say.

You’ve been using your power to thwart yourself.
Posted by Kit in development, inspiration on October 6, 2009
The glory of the spiritual journey is the same as its irony: You acquire full power only by realising that you have been using that power all along to thwart yourself. You are potentially the prisoner, the jailer, and the hero who opens the prison, all rolled into one.

An infinite, silent energy field
Posted by Kit in development, science, spirituality on October 6, 2009
Get a beautiful flower and hold it in front of you. Inhale the fragrance and say to yourself “Without me, this flower would have no fragrance” Take in the glowing colour and say to yourself “Without me, this flower would have no colour” Stroke the velvety petals and say to yourself” Without me, this flower would have no texture”. Realise that if you subtract yourself from any sensation – sight, sound, touch, taste, smell – the flower would be nothing but atoms vibrating in a void.
Now consider the DNA that is inside each cell of the flower. Visualise the billions of atoms strung along a double helix and say to yourself ” My DNA is looking at the DNA in this flower. The experience is not an observer looking at an object. DNA in one form is looking at DNA in another form” Now see the DNA begin to shimmer and turn into invisible vibrations of energy. Say to yourself “The flower has vanished into it’s primal energy. I have vanished into my primal energy. Now only one energy field is looking at another energy field.”
Finally see the boundary between your energy and the flower’s energy fade as one set of waves merges into another, like ocean waves rising and falling on the vast surface of an endless sea. Say to yourself, “All energy comes from one source and returns to it. When I look at the flower, a tiny flicker of infinity is rising from the source to experience itself”
Having followed this trail, you have arrived at what is truly real: An infinite, silent energy field flickered for an instant, experiencing an object (the flower) and a subject (you the observer) without going anywhere. Awareness simply took a look at one aspect of its eternal beauty. Its only motive was to create a moment of joy. You and the flower stood at opposite poles of that moment, yet there was no separation. A single creative stroke took place, fusing you both.

Fearlessness means total security
Posted by Kit in development on October 4, 2009
[P111] Fearlessness means total security. Fear is a jolt from the past; it reminds us of the moment when we left a place of belonging and found ourselves in a place of vulnerability. The Bhagavad Gita says that fear is born of separation, implying that the original cause of fear was the loss of unity. Ultimately, that separation is not a fall from grace but a loss of who you really are. To be fearless feels, therefore, like yourself.

Different perspectives

[P116] Lets take an example: You stop at a red light on the way home, but the car behind you doesn’t stop and rear-ends you. When you jump out to confront the other driver, he is not apologetic. Sullenly, he begins to give you his insurance information. In one operating system the following implications come into play:
- This stranger doesn’t have my best interests in mind.
- If he is lying, I could be left with all the damages.
- I am the aggrieved party, and he should recognise that.
- I may have to force him to cooperate.
As these ideas come into play, consider the possibility that the car accident didn’t cause them – they were already imprinted in your mind waiting for the moment they’d be needed. You aren’t seeing the situation as it really is but only through your programmed perception. In a different operating system the following implications are equally valid.
- This accident was no accident; it’s a reflection of myself.
- This stranger is a messenger.
- When I find out why this event happened, I will uncover some aspect of myself.
- I need to pay more attention to some kind of hidden or stuck energy. When I deal with it, i will be glad this accident happened.

Clear some space for truth
Posted by Kit in development, inspiration on September 16, 2009
[P132] Today I am busy with mop, bucket and disinfectant, cleaning and clearing my inner hallway. It’s not panic stations. But truth has said she is coming sometime, so I need to clear a space. She’s tried before apparently, and found the door wedged shut with clutter. I don’t remember it, to be honest – perhaps I was out. She came, pushed at the door, sensed resistance, and left.
Not today. It will be different today, whenever or however she comes.

Oneness
Posted by Kit in inspiration, spirituality on September 16, 2009
[P136] We are standing by a flowing stream, the surface awash with busy bubbles. You call out to them, “So what are you then?” With some indignation, most of them reply, “We’re bubbles”, and hurry on in a state of haughty offence. But there are other bubbles who do not appear so indignant, and you dare ask them the same question. “So what are you then?”
Their reply is as peaceful as that of the others was turbulent. “We’re stream”, they say.
A sense of distinctiveness without a sense of difference is a most skillful attitude to acquire.

A thousand mental messages

In the now
Posted by Kit in development on September 3, 2009
[P199] This implies that “now” is more complex than it looks. Are you in the now when you are most active and energised, or when you are most still? Take a look at a river. On the surface, the current is fast and restless. At the middle depths, the flow slows down, until one reaches the bottom, where the silt is only slightly stirred before you touch bedrock, where the motion of water no longer has any effect. The mind is capable of participating at every level of the river. You can run with the fastest current, which most people try to do in their everyday lives. Their version of now is whatever has to be done right now. For them, the present moment contains constant drama. Time equals actions, just as it does on the surface of the river.

‘Today, a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration. That we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively. Spiritual Journey – Inspiration
Posted by Kit in inspiration, spirituality on May 14, 2009
[P365] I would like to introduce you to yourself.
You will not find yourself running from teacher to teacher, from book to book. You will not meet yourself through following any particular specialised method of meditation. Only by looking quietly within the self that you know can your own reality be experienced, with those connections that exist between the present or immediate self and the inner identity that is multidimensional.
There must be a willingness, an acquiescence, a desire. If you do not take the time to examine your own subjective states, then you cannot complain if so many answers seem to elude you. You cannot throw the burden of proof upon another, or expect man or teacher to prove to you the validity of your own existence. Such a procedure is bound to lead you into one subjective trap after another.
As you sit reading, the doorways within are open. You have only to experience the moment as you know it as fully as possible – as it exists physically within the room, or outside in the streets of the city in which you live. Imagine the experience present in one moment of time over the globe, then try to appreciate the subjective experience of your own that exists in the moment and yet escapes it – and this multiplied by each living individual
[P405] True spirituality is a thing of joy and of the earth, and has nothing to do with fake adult dignity. It has nothing to do with long words and sorrowful faces. It has to do with the dance of consciousness that is within you, and with the sense of spiritual adventure that is within your hearts.
So do not think you are being spiritual when you are being long-faced, and do not think you are being spiritual when you berate yourself for your sins. The seasons within your system come and go. The sun falls upon your face whether you think you are a sinner or a saint. The vitality of the universe is creativity and joy and love, and that is spirituality.

Limitless Mind – Remote Viewing
Posted by Kit in spirituality on May 14, 2009
A few weeks ago I read ‘Limitless Mind’ by Russel Targ. It totally opened my mind up to the subject of remote viewing and the unlimited possibilities of consciousness. It was filled with awesome case studies and facts that blew me away. Here’s one that was pretty cool:
[P86] In the lab, we know that if we show a frightening picture to a person, there will be significant change in his or her physiology. Blood pressure, heart rate and skin resistance will all change. This flight or fight reaction is called an “orienting response”. Researcher Dean Radin at the University of Nevada (now at the Institutue of Noetic Sciences) has shown that this orienting response is also observed in a person’s physiology a few seconds before they see the scary picture. In balanced double-blind experiments, Radin has demonstrated that if experimental subjects are about to see scenes of sexuality, violence or mayhem, their bodies will steel themselves against the surprise, shock or insult. But if the subjects are about to see a picture of a flower garden, there is no such strong anticipatory reaction – even before the picture is randomly selected! Fear is much easier to measure physiologically than bliss.
The blurb about the book:
The psychic abilities of most humans are dampened by the clatter of our conscious minds. In this timely book, Russell Targ draws on the work of ancient mystics and traditions – Gnostic, Christian, Buddhist, Kabalistic Jewish, Sufi, yogi, and especially Hindu spiritual master Patanjali – to show readers how to quiet this noise and see into the far reaches of time and space through remote viewing. This psychic ability offers a path of self-inquiry and self-realization and expands each person’s limited awareness of the consciousness shared by all humans. Targ explores its scientific as well as spiritual implications and offers techniques and exercises to nurture this universal but mostly untapped skill.
You are physically a part of the earth
Posted by Kit in science, spirituality on May 13, 2009
[P311] I have told you often that you do yourself a grave injustice by limiting your conception of the self. Your sense of identity, freedom, power and love would be immeasurably enhanced if you could understand that what you are does not end at the boundaries of your skin, but continues outward through the physical environment that seems to be impersonal, or not-self.
Biologically it should be easy to understand that you are physically a part of the earth and everything within it. You are made of the same elements, you breathe the same air. You cannot hold the air that you take within you and then say, “This is myself, filled with this air. I will not let it go” or you would find out very quickly that you were not nearly so independent.
You are biologically connected, chemically connected with the earth that you know; but since it is also formed naturally and spontaneously from your own projected psychic energy, since you and the seasons even have a psychic interaction, then the self must be understood in a far greater context. Such a context would allow you to share in life experiences of many other forms, to follow patterns of energy and emotions of which you barely conceive, and to sense a world-consciousness in which you have your own independent part.

Your source of power
Posted by Kit in exercises, spirituality on May 12, 2009
[P77] For now, here is one quite effective but simple exercise. Close your eyes after having read this chapter to this point, and try to sense within yourself the source of power from which your own breathing and life forces come. Some of you will do this successfully at your first try. Others my take longer. When you feel within yourself this source, then try to sense this power flow outward through your entire physical being, through the fingertips and toes, through the pores of your body, all directions, with yourself as centre. Imagine the rays undiminished, reaching then through the foliage and clouds above, through the centre of the earth below, extending even to the farthest reaches of the universe.
Now I do not mean this to be a merely symbolic exercise, for though it may begin with imagination, it is based upon fact and emanations from your consciousness and the creativity of your soul do indeed reach outward in that manner. The exercise will give you some idea of the true nature, creativity and vitality of the soul from which you can draw your own energy and of which you are an individual and unique portion.

Soulful Relationships
Posted by Kit in relationships, spirituality on May 11, 2009
Steve Pavlina has a cool article about this here, he writes:
The mindset of empowered relationships
So what is the mindset that makes it so much easier to relate to people? Here it is in a nutshell:
Everyone you meet in your life — even total strangers — is already intimately connected to you. The idea that we are all separate and distinct beings is nothing but an illusion. We are all parts of a larger whole, like individual cells in a body.
Moreover, everyone and everything you see out there in your world are reflections of you. Just as the cells in an organism carry the same DNA, other people are walking around with some part of you inside them. When you look at other people, you’re really looking at yourself. When you notice other people, it’s just like your eyes observing your hands. We’re all parts of the same whole.
Here are some facets of this interconnected model of relationships:
* Oneness – Other people are not separate and distinct from you. In fact, they are you.
* Connectedness – You don’t have to “build” relationships with others because you’re already connected. You need only tune into the pre-existing connection that’s already there.
* No risk – Little or no courage is required to approach strangers. You’re never actually building new connections from scratch. You’re just recognizing what’s already there.
* Equality – You can feel just as close to total strangers as you do to your friends.
* Significance – All relationships are significant; none are irrelevant. Even the strangers you pass on the street are important parts of you.
* Love without attachment – Letting go of harmful relationships is easier because you’re still unconditionally connected to everyone else. As you release old relationships that no longer serve you, you’ll attract new ones that are compatible with you.
…I think the reason this mindset is so effective is that when you assume a pre-existing connection with another person, s/he will tend to respond in kind. Usually the best way to break the ice with someone is to assume there never was any ice to begin with.
Applying the empowering mindset
When you adopt the mindset that we’re all inherently connected, these are some of the actions and results that will come naturally to you:
* Easy rapport – You’ll connect with strangers almost as easily as you connect with your closest friends, sometimes more easily. The difference between strangers and friends is intellectual familiarity, but you can tap into an intuitive familiarity even with someone you’ve never met.
* Fairness – You’ll begin to feel a kinship with everyone, regardless of familiarity.
* Attraction – Because you’re always open to connecting with people, you’ll begin attracting new relationships fairly easily. Compatible people will be drawn to you.
* Synchronicity – You’ll experience a swell in synchronicities that lead to chance encounters, meeting people you feel very drawn to meet.
* Social courage – Have you ever seen someone at a distance you felt you were supposed to meet? Have you ever run into the same stranger multiple times in the same day? With the right belief system, you’ll feel confident beginning a conversation with such people, and you’ll find that your hunches were right on — you were supposed to meet.
* Deeper relationships – You’ll enjoy deeper, less superficial relationships, getting to know people at the level of soul.
* Energy – You’ll attract relationships that energize you rather than drain you.
* Reading people – Because we’re all connected, you can mentally connect with other people and literally share the same thoughts in a way that goes beyond words, voice, and body language. You can even do it at a distance. With practice you can get an accurate read on someone you’ve never met, picking up specific data about that person that you couldn’t have known in a purely objective sense. Practice increases both your accuracy and your ability to trust the information you pick up.
Gary Zukav on Judging
Posted by Kit in development, relationships on May 10, 2009
Judging [P270] Until you can acknowledge that you possess the same characteristics you judge harshly in others, you will become enraged, disappointed, angry and contemptuous when you see them in others. The longer you deny them, the more prominent they become. At the same time, the more judgmental you become of them in others. Individuals will appear in your life, or reappear, who upset you. You will judge them until you finally realise that you discontent – judgement – for any of your fellow students in the Earth school is discontent with and harsh judgement of yourself. Then you will be able to change those characteristics in yourself.
[P272] Judging prevents you from revealing yourself to yourself and others. It is a barrier against vulnerability.

Living consciously
Posted by Kit in development on May 1, 2009
These excerpts were taken from “The Art of Living Consciously” by Nathaniel Branden
[P49] What am I pretending not to know? Asking that question implies, of course, that we have already begun shifting to a clearer, more focused level of consciousness – and this is an act of choice.
In any situation we confront the issue: Shall I or shall I not strive for awareness, clarity, understanding? And the way we build confidence in our mind and gain increasing control over our life is by repeatedly responding in the affirmative. We make a muscle strong by using it.
[P 128]
…teach them that the unexamined idea is not worth holding.
It might be argued that no one could possibly examine all the ideas he or she is influenced or moved by. This is true – but irrelevant. No one can be flawlessly reasonable all the time, but this does not mean it is futile to strive to be reasonable. No one can be perfectly just all the time, but if we have integrity, we do attempt to be as just as we know how to be. No one can be consistently kind on all occasions – or even be certain of what true kindness consists in some cases – but still we try to raise our average.
Chakras
Posted by Kit in spirituality on February 13, 2009
Chakras are energy centers in the body. There are seven major chakras and many mini chakras. Your physical, psychological and spiritual journey are mirrored in your chakras, which can also have many “layers”. Chakras can be opened, closed, spin clockwise or counterclockwise, blocked and
clogged, causing positive or negative energies and/or attributes.
1. Root chakra (kundalini) – Location: base of spine and the pubic bone and includs genitals and reproductive organs.
2. Sacral chakra (svadhisthana) – Location: behind and just below the navel
3. Solar plexus chakra (manipura) – Location: above the navel
4. Heart chakra (anahata) – Location: midway between shoulder
5. Throat chakra (visuddha) – Location: throat area
6. Brow chakra/Third eye (ajna) – Location: centre of head, behind forehead
7. Crown chakra (sahasrar) – Location: top of head
Your chakras are associated with colors and musical notes, fragrances (vibrations of energy), psychological functions, organs, and glands and each has their own set of attributes.
